Quick Guide: Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
For Staff & Faculty
Why 2FA?
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enhances the security of your MUIC Microsoft 365 account by requiring verification through an Authenticator App in addition to your password.
Before You Start
Please prepare:
  • MUIC account & password
  • Smartphone (iOS or Android)
  • Install Microsoft Authenticator from App Store / Google Play
Step-by-Step Setup (5–10 Minutes)
1. Sign In
Enter your MUIC SKY+ or mymuic.io followed by @muic.io, for example:[email protected] or
firstname.sur@muic.io,
then click Next.
Enter the password for your
MUIC SKY+ account, then click Sign in.
2. Install Microsoft Authenticator on your phone
When prompted:
  • If not already, download and install Microsoft Authenticator on your phone
  • Click Next
3. Add Your Account On Your Phone
Open Microsoft Authenticator
Tap + Add Account
Select Work or School Account
Choose Scan QR Code
4. Scan QR Code
On your computer:
  • Click Next
  • A QR code will appear
  • Use the MS Authenticator app on your phone to scan the QR code shown on your screen
  • Click Next
5. Approve Test Sign-In
  • A number will appear on your computer
  • A notification will be sent to your phone
  • Enter the same number in the MS Authenticator app on your phone
  • Approve the request
  • You will see: “Authenticator Added”
  • Click Done
